Broad Creek

NRHA's Broad Creek initiative includes the redevelopment of the Roberts Village and Bowling Green Public Housing Communities and the provision of assistance to adjacent areas through rehabilitation services. The Broad Creek Renaissance was sparked by a $35 million HUD HOPE VI grant, awarded to NRHA in July 2000. The project involves the redevelopment of the former Roberts Village and Bowling Green Public Housing Communities, redevelopment of the Marshal Manor Site, extension of rehabilitation services to the Haynes Tract and Chesterfield Heights Communities and limited property acquisition in Douglas Park. NRHA is also renovating the Mission College apartments using Low Income Housing Tax Credits and will construct a new clubhouse and pool to improve on-site amenities. The area also has several projects the City, private groups and NRHA are cooperating on such as the linear park along Ballentine Blvd, $28 million Ray and Jean Kroc Community Center, new regional library and a light rail stop at Ballentine Blvd. In the near future the project will also involve the redevelopment of the Moton Circle public housing community.
