The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for the purchase and renovation of the existing single-family detached home at 1709 Princeton Avenue, on a lot located within the Campostella Heights neighborhood. There will be a required onsite pre-bid meeting at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, at the home.

The property is part of PRIDE, NRHA’s established purchase-renovation program which identifies and acquires existing homes in good condition and offers them to developers for comprehensive renovation and resale. NRHA has performed selected demolition work and prepared proposed renovation plans and specifications establishing quality standards for the work. The developer may propose alternate plans and approaches that equal or exceed NRHA standards.

NRHA is offering this property for purchase by developers and individuals alike; however, the renovation is to be done by a qualified member in good standing with the NRHA Builders and Designers Guild.

The overriding intent of the RFP is to encourage superior design and construction quality standards for homes of traditional design such as the American Foursquare, Bungalow, Queen Anne and cottages with Craftsman details. NRHA is seeking conscientious builders with an eye for quality, both in construction and customer service, as well as good follow-through after the sale.
