Norfolk, VA (April 14, 2008) – Donnell Brown will join the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) as Assistant Executive Director for Housing Operations on April 21, 2008 announced NRHA Executive Director Shurl Montgomery.

Brown brings a diverse mix of public, private and non-profit property management experience to NRHA, where she will be responsible for a portfolio of about 3,500 assisted-rental units at 14 properties and 3,300 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV).

From 1999 to 2006, Brown was Director of the HCV program at the Newark, NJ, Housing Authority (NHA). Her department, which had responsibility for over 6,000 vouchers, was nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), for developing model job literacy and job placement programs/ partnerships that serve voucher holders.

From 1997 to 1999 at the NHA, Brown was an Asset Manager with supervision of 6,000 apartments and 200 employees at 21 property sites.

Among her positions prior to joining NHA, Brown was District Manager for Insignia Management Group, Plainsboro, NJ and Director, Operations, New Community Corp., a large non-profit residential developer in New Jersey. She has over 30 years of combined experience in the public and private housing sectors. Brown holds a B.A. degree in Urban Planning and Policies from Rutgers University.
