NRHA Launches Online Rent Payments for Public Housing Communities

Norfolk, VA (August 22, 2016) – Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) is launching an electronic rent payment option for residents in its public housing communities effective September 1. NRHA is utilizing the payment platform RentPayment, an online and mobile payment solution for the multi-family industry. Residents are also able to call RentPayment Customer Service line to pay their rent over the phone at 1-866-289-5977.

Residents may still mail in their rent payments to PO Box 71247, Philadelphia, PA 19176-6247 in the envelope they receive monthly.

Residents will be able to pay rent online through debit card, credit card or e-check for a small handling fee. The fees are determined and collected by YapStone, the RentPayment holding company, and not paid or conveyed to NRHA.

Fees are as follows:

  • Debit card payment: additional cost of 1% of total paid
  • Credit card payment: additional cost of 2.95% of total charged
  • E-Check payment: additional cost of $1 regardless of amount paid
  • Minimum fee:  $4.95 for all debit and credit card payments

RentPayment allows residents to elect to report their rental payment information to TransUnion therefore helping residents build and improve their credit scores.

Residents can access the RentPayment online portal via the NRHA website homepage or RentPayment website directly.
