The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to hear comments on its annual plan for assisted-rental programs at 5:30 p.m., March 27, at Ruffner Middle School, 610 May Ave, Norfolk. Qualified individuals who need communication aids, services or other accommodations to participate are invited to make their needs known to 504/ADA Coordinator Ora Barclift, 201 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23510, 623-1111, 9:00am – 5:00pm (M-F), TDD: 800-545-1833. 

The Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act (QHWRA) of 1998 requires housing authorities to complete a five-year plan and an annual plan for its assisted-rental properties and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program.  The plan covers the period of July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.

The draft plan is currently available for a 45-day public review and comment period at various locations throughout Norfolk, including Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, Endependence Center, Union Mission and all Tenant Management Corporations and Management offices.  A resident input meeting was held October 19, 2013.

The plans include information on NRHA’s major goals, objectives and strategies for assisted-rental housing and HCV program, requirements/mandates by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and NRHA’s objectives and strategies for achieving the mission of “providing quality housing opportunities that foster sustainable mixed-income communities.”
